Boerne Stage Road Update

Roadway plans are in good shape from a design standpoint right now, but are in a temporary holding pattern while we address the following issues:
Right of Way - This project impacts drainage, and necessitates roadway widening and channel grading. As such we are in the process of negotiating drainage easements and right-of-way (ROW) acquisitions necessary to get the project completed. We have an independent ROW acquisition agent working on our behalf currently to help expedite this process.
Work in Leon Creek - Our engineer has just finished their "Floodplain Mitigation Impact Study" which details various alternatives available to the County that would allow us to offset any adverse impacts to properties adjacent to the Leon Creek. These channelization plans will need to be reviewed, finalized, and added to the larger plan set to be constructed with the roadway improvements. This effort will cost the project about an additional $2.5 million in design and construction.
Permitting Issues - A partial list of entities that require permitting along this project corridor: US Army Corps of Engineers for work in the floodplain, the Texas Historical Commission for the Texas Antiquities Permit, and the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality because the project is over the "Contributing Zone" to the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone.
If all the dominoes fall as we have planned, we can possibly advertise the project toward the end of the year. The work that is witnessed currently is utility work of one sort or another, and not County work.
