Goodbye, Hill Country View...
3/19/2009
By Richard Erickson, Executive Editor
Due to declining revenue and a troubled economy, the weekly community newspaper Hill Country View will cease publication with today's issue.
Offices of the newspaper, located at 725 N. Main St. in Boerne, will be closed.
The View, founded in August 2004, delivered 12,550 copies each week to residents of Boerne, Comfort, Fair Oaks Ranch, Leon Springs and The Dominion.
In its place, beginning March 26, residents of these communities, with the exception of Comfort, will begin receiving the Northwest Weekly, a Prime Time newspaper with a circulation of 30,000 currently serving Leon Valley, Helotes, Westover Hills and Grey Forest. Delivery, advertising and editorial content will be expanded to include the new areas.
Readers will still be able to read about news happening in their areas on www.sacommunities.com.
The editor of the Northwest Weekly is Lauri Gray Eaton, a veteran journalist who, until a year ago, was the editor of the View.
"We welcome our new coverage area,” Eaton said, “and especially since it includes communities we know so well. We will strive to continue the same fine standard of reporting that the View has set over the past 4½ years.”
Eaton can be reached at (210) 250-3322, or via e-mail at leaton@primetimenewspapers.com.
